Government Higher Secondary School Barghat

This school is located at No 25 on Azudinkhan Street in the Triplicane area. If you know Triplicane, you know how crowded and lively it is. Our building is right in the middle of all that energy. It’s an old structure, and you can see the wear and tear on the stairs and the window frames. We don’t have much space for a garden or anything like that, so the kids usually just gather in the small courtyard or out on the street during the breaks. The classrooms are high-ceilinged but they still get stuffy when there are forty students packed inside. We use a lot of chalk and the dust gets on everything, including the teachers' clothes. It’s a very practical place. We don’t have computers in every room or anything like that, just the basics like maps on the walls and old wooden cupboards for the supplies. The noise from the street—bells, bikes, and people talking—is just the background music for our day. We’ve been here serving this part of Chennai for a long time now. It’s not a polished environment, but it’s where a lot of local kids get their start. We just focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the kids show up on time. It’s a simple, honest school with a lot of history in these old walls and we plan to keep it going as long as we can.
