Working down on Theyagaraya Road in T.Nagar is always an experience because of how crowded it gets. Our spot at 113/114 is right in the middle of all that energy. On Saturdays, you can hardly move on the sidewalk outside because of all the shoppers and the street vendors. Inside the store, it's a bit of a different world, though it stays busy enough for us to keep moving. We spend a lot of our time just folding things, putting them back on hangers, or moving stock from the back rooms to the main floor. The air conditioning is always running hard to keep the heat out, but you still feel the humidity every time someone opens the front door. Most of us have been working here long enough that we know where every single item is without even looking at the labels on the boxes. It gets tiring standing on your feet all day, especially when the holiday season rolls around and the crowds double in size. We don't really do much talking unless it’s about work or what we’re having for lunch from the local place around the corner. The shelves are always being shifted around to make room for new things coming in on the morning trucks. T.Nagar never really sleeps, so there is always some noise or some delivery truck trying to park in a spot that’s way too small for it. It's just a lot of moving parts every single day.
