About Global Leathers – Fashion & Trends in Chennai
We spend a lot of our time here at No. 486 in the Ansk Complex. It’s right on Gnt Road in Red Hills, so it gets pretty loud with the heavy trucks passing by all day long. Most mornings start with moving these big, heavy rolls of leather around to get things ready. The space isn't huge, but we make it work for what we need to do. There is usually a thin layer of dust on the work tables and the smell of the hides stays on your clothes long after you go home at night. My hands are usually stained or have little nicks from the tools we use to cut and trim the material. It isn't a very clean job. We have coffee in the corner near the window that looks out at the main road. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there waiting for the fans to kick back on. People walk in looking for specific pieces of leather, and we dig through the piles to find what they want. It’s mostly just us and the hum of the machines. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. The complex has other businesses too, so there is always someone coming or going. We keep the scrap pieces in bins under the main work table. By the time evening rolls around, the floor is covered in small bits of brown and black leather. We sweep it up and do it again.
