About Ganesh Leathers – Fashion & Trends in Chennai
Our address is a bit confusing because people still use the Old No. 11 even though the New No. 16 is what shows up on the map. It causes some trouble for the delivery drivers who end up wandering down the street looking for us. We’ve stayed in this same spot for years, and the smell of leather is just part of the air now. You don’t even notice it after ten minutes. The building is solid, but the doors squeak every time someone walks in. We keep the tools in the back and the finished pieces up front where the light is better. It isn't a high-tech setup. We have some old wooden benches and a radio that mostly plays local news. Ganesh Leathers has seen the neighborhood change a lot, with new shops opening and old ones closing down. We just keep doing what we do. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we have to move our work closer to the window. It’s not a fancy showroom with glass cases. Everything is out in the open, and you might get some dust on your sleeve if you lean against the shelves. My cousin helps out on the busy days, and we usually eat lunch right here at the main table. It’s a simple way to live, and we like being part of the community here where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We have a few old calendars on the wall that we never bother to take down, even when the year is over. It feels like home to us.
