Fashions International

Fashions International is located at 35(Np), 3rd Main Road, in the Guindy Industrial Estate. This part of Chennai, Ekkaduthangal, is full of workshops and factories like ours. We’ve been here in Kalaimagal Nagar for a while now. The building is a simple industrial setup. We have rows of sewing machines and long cutting tables. It’s usually pretty warm inside, so we keep the big fans running all day long. We make all sorts of clothes. It’s mostly about following the patterns and making sure the stitching is straight. We don't have a marketing department or anything like that. It’s just us and the workers on the floor. Most of our day is spent looking at thread counts and garment samples. We deal with a lot of different orders, some small and some quite large. The yard outside usually has a truck or two loading up. It’s a noisy environment, but it’s a good kind of busy. We’ve got a routine that works for us. Everyone knows their job, whether it's cutting the fabric or doing the final ironing. We try to keep things simple and just focus on the garments in front of us. It’s not a glamorous job, but we take pride in the stuff we send out. It’s just a regular day-to-day business in a busy industrial hub. We usually eat lunch together in the small break area near the back door.
