We have our setup over in Ayanavaram at No: 33/3 on V.P. Colony North Street. It’s a busy part of Chennai, and our office at Elev Designs is usually full of blueprints and rolls of tracing paper. We spend most of our time drawing up plans and then heading out to sites to see how they’re actually being built. It’s not a glamorous job, and we often end up with dust on our clothes by lunch. We aren't the type of designers who just sit behind a computer all day. We like to be involved in the messy parts of construction too. Sometimes things don’t line up right, or a wall isn’t as straight as the drawing said, and we have to figure it out on the spot. That’s just the reality of building things in an old city like this. We’ve been in Ayanavaram for a while, and we like that everything we need is close by. We don’t use any fancy corporate talk or pretend to be something we aren't. We are just a team of people who enjoy the process of making buildings work. It’s a lot of long hours and sometimes a bit of frustration when materials are late, but we stick with it. We try to be straightforward with everyone we work with. It’s a practical business, and we just take it one day at a time.
