Dr M G R Janaki College For Women is located at No 11 and 13 on Durgabai Deshmukh Road in R A Puram. The building is called Sathyabama M G R Maligai. It’s a well-known spot in this part of Chennai. The road outside is usually packed with buses and cars heading towards the Adyar bridge, so there’s always a bit of noise. We have a lot of space here, but it’s all very functional. It’s not a modern glass building; it has more of a traditional, solid feel to it. We have various departments spread across the floors. The morning time is always the busiest when everyone is arriving at once for the first bell. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. It’s a college, so we have classrooms, a library, and offices for the staff. R A Puram is a nice area, quite green in some spots, though the main road is always busy. We’ve been here for quite some time, so the building has its quirks, like the way the light hits the corridors in the afternoon. Most of us have our own routines, grabbing a coffee from the canteen or sitting in the office to catch up on files. It’s just a place where people come to learn and work. We don't try to make it sound like anything other than what it is. We just keep the place running for the students every single day and that is enough for us.
