Dharni Traders

Located at 16/2, Prof. Subramaniam Street, our business has been a part of the Kilpauk neighborhood for a long time. Dharni Traders is a small operation, and the street outside can get very tight when delivery trucks are trying to get through. Inside the building, we have to be smart about how we stack the inventory because there isn't much extra space. Most of the day involves checking lists and talking on the phone to see what's in stock. Since we are a small team, everyone helps out with whatever needs doing, whether it’s answering calls or helping load a small tempo. Kilpauk is a busy place, so there is always noise from the street coming through the windows. We don't have air conditioning, so the ceiling fans stay on all day to keep things moving. Our desks are usually piled high with notebooks and pens because we still find it easier to write things down by hand. It’s a bit old-fashioned compared to some places, but it works for us. Knowing the local drivers and the people at the nearby tea stall makes the day go by faster. We just focus on getting the counts right and making sure the orders are ready when they should be. There isn't anything fancy about how we run things, just a simple daily routine of moving stock and keeping the books updated.
