D. I. Architecture

Our studio is based in B-6 of the Golden Jublie Apartments. We are located right on Ashok Pillar Salai in K.K. Nagar. It's a bit different working out of an apartment building, but it gives us a quiet space to focus on our designs. D. I. Architecture isn't a huge firm with dozens of employees. It's just a few of us who really like drawing and planning out buildings. Our desks are usually covered in tracing paper and pens that have run out of ink. We spend a lot of time looking out the window at the traffic on Ashok Pillar Salai when we’re stuck on a problem. The neighbors in the apartment complex are used to us by now. We try to keep the noise down, but sometimes we have to move heavy sample boards around. It’s a very hands-on job here. We do all our own drafting and sometimes we go out to sites to check on how the construction is going. K.K. Nagar is a good place to be because everything is close by. We don't have a big fancy sign outside, just a small nameplate on the door. It feels more like a workshop than a corporate office. We like that people can just come in and sit down to talk about their house plans without feeling like they’re in a boardroom. It’s just a plain, hardworking space where we try to get the details right for every project we take on.
