Apieces Architects

You can find us at No 14 on 2nd Street in Nehru Nagar. Adyar is a nice part of town, and we’ve been settled here for a good while. Apieces Architects is basically just a few of us who like making things look right and work well. The office is an old house that was converted into a workspace a long time ago. It has that old building smell, which we’ve actually grown to like. We have drafting boards pushed up against the walls and a lot of half-finished models sitting on the shelves. Sometimes the cat from next door wanders in through the window and we just let it sleep on the blueprints. We don't have a fancy sign outside, just a small one by the front gate. We spend our mornings going over structural details and our afternoons arguing about where a window should go. It’s not very glamorous work. There’s usually a lot of scrap paper and pencil shavings on the floor by the end of the day. We try to keep things simple and avoid all that complicated jargon people use these days. If a wall needs to be in a certain place, we put it there. We know the neighbors pretty well and sometimes we get our lunch from the small mess around the corner. It’s a quiet street, which helps when we need to concentrate.
