You can find us at 5 Patnool Sardar Jung Street in Periamet. Periamet is a place that never really sleeps, with all the leather trade going on constantly. Our shop is one of those old-school places where the door is always open and the front is usually blocked by a couple of bags of salt or raw skins. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, and we don't try to pretend it is. We’re usually covered in a bit of dust or grease from the machines. Inside, the light is a bit dim, but we know where everything is kept. We’ve got shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, packed with different types of leather. My father used to say the shop has a soul, but I think it’s just got a lot of history and a bit of a draft. We sit on small stools and check the quality of each piece that comes through. We don't have a website or a fancy catalog. We just show people what we have on the floor. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying, so by the time evening rolls around, we’re all pretty tired. We close up when the street starts to quiet down, which isn't until late. It’s just the way we’ve always done it here in Periamet. It's a tough neighborhood but it's where we belong and we know the trade well.
