Lavika Leathers

You can find Lavika Leathers at No. 120 on Sankar Nagar 24th Street in Chromepet. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the heavy smell of leather. It’s a strong scent that we’ve grown used to over the years. We have all sorts of leather goods spread out on the tables and hanging from the walls. Belts, bags, and smaller things like wallets are all over. The shop is a bit tucked away, so you have to look for the number 120. It’s a bit of a walk from the main station area. We spend a lot of time checking the hides and making sure there aren't too many marks on them. It’s just a few of us working here. The lighting isn't the best, especially in the back where we keep the extra stock in bundles. We use some old wooden cabinets that have been here since the place opened. Sometimes the door sticks a bit when it rains or when it gets humid. We don't have a big fancy website or a social media person to take photos. If people want to see what we have, they just come down to Chromepet. We talk to the customers and show them the different types of leather we use. It’s a slow process but we don't like to rush things. It’s just a regular leather shop doing things the old way on 24th street.
