Expo Leather Industries is right here on Thiruvalluvar Street in Chrompet. If you know Nagalakeni, you know it is a busy spot for this kind of work. We are at number 25. Gandhi Nagar is just around us. The street gets a bit narrow sometimes when the trucks come in to drop off materials. Most days it is just the sound of the machines running and folks walking by. We have been at this spot for a while now. The building isn't anything fancy, just a regular place where we get things done. Sometimes the electricity acts up, but that is just how it is around here. You can usually find someone in the shop from early morning until late evening. It is a lot of manual labor, handling the hides and making sure everything looks right before it goes out. People in the neighborhood know us by now. Chrompet has changed a lot over the years, more traffic and more shops popping up everywhere, but Thiruvalluvar Street stays pretty much the same. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It is not a glamorous job, but it is what we do. The address is pretty easy to find once you get into the Nagalakeni area. Just look for the Gandhi Nagar sign and we are right there at 25. There is always some dust from the road and the smell of leather in the air, which we don’t even notice anymore after all these years.
