A+a Leather Product

Down here on Peter Street in Nagelkeni, things move at their own pace. A+a Leather Product is basically just a workshop where we get our hands dirty every day. The air in Chrompet always has that specific scent from the tanneries nearby, and our place at No. 21 is no different. We spend the mornings sorting through batches of skins. Some are thick, some are thin, and they all have their own marks. We don't try to hide the imperfections because that is just how leather is. The fans on the ceiling hum all day long to keep the air moving, but it still gets warm when we are busy. We have a couple of old sewing machines that have been with us since the start. They make a rhythmic clicking sound that you get used to after a week. It isn't a showroom with bright lights and glass cases. It's more of a place where we measure, cut, and stitch things together. Sometimes we run out of a certain thread color and someone has to go find more. We keep our tools on a wooden board where everyone can reach them. It is a simple setup for simple work. Most of our day is just checking the edges and making sure the glue has dried properly before we pack things into boxes for transport. It’s hard work on the back, but we are used to it by now. The tea shop next door usually brings us a round of drinks around four.
