Deivam Exports

Our place is right on Periyar Pathai in Choolaimedu, number 147. It is a busy street and finding a parking spot is basically impossible most mornings. We spend a lot of time sorting through boxes and checking lists. Exports involve a lot of paperwork and making sure things get on the truck at the right time. The office is usually a bit of a mess with files piled up on the desks and the phone ringing while we are trying to eat lunch. People walk by all day long and sometimes they peek in to see what we are doing. It is mostly just us moving stuff around and talking to drivers. The fans stay on all day because it gets quite stuffy in here. We have been in this part of Chennai for a long time, so we know the local shops and where to get the coffee around the corner. Sometimes the internet goes slow and we cannot send our emails, which is a real pain. We do not have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. Just some chairs for people to sit on if they are waiting for a signature. It is a lot of manual work, lifting and packing and taping up cartons until our arms get tired. We try to stay organized but it does not always work out that way when three shipments arrive at once. We are just a small group of people working hard in Choolaimedu and getting through the daily list.
