Ameen Protective Clothing Company

Our workshop is located at No. 36 Kosumani Street in Choolaimedu. We are quite close to the Radha Kalyana Mandappam, so there’s often music or the sound of weddings nearby on certain days. It’s a busy little street. We mostly make protective clothing here. The place is full of heavy-duty fabrics and thick threads that can be tough on the hands. We have a few old sewing machines that have been with us since the beginning. They make a lot of noise, but they are reliable. The building is just a regular house that we converted into a workspace. It’s a bit cramped with all the boxes of safety gear waiting to be sent out. We don’t really have a front desk; you just walk in and you’ll see us working. My cousin and I handle the day-to-day stuff, and we have a couple of helpers who have been with us for years. We eat lunch together on the small porch when the weather is nice. Sometimes customers drop by to pick up their orders directly. We don't do anything fancy, no big signs or bright lights. It’s just a practical place where we get the job done. The walls are lined with samples of different vests and jackets. It’s messy and loud, but it’s our way of making a living. We just keep our heads down and work on whatever is on the table that day.
