Chennai Woodlands Hotel

Our hotel is at No 20 on Rajaji Salai in Parrys. It’s right in the middle of everything in North Chennai. Being in S K Nagar, we are directly opposite the SBI Bank, which is a big landmark for people trying to find us. This part of town is very old and very busy. The port is close by, so you see a lot of lorries and heavy traffic moving through the streets at night. During the day, it's mostly people going to the banks or the courts. We spend a lot of time managing the rooms and making sure the lobby stays clean, though with the dust from the road, it’s a constant battle. The building has been here for a while, and it has that old-school feel to it. We don't have a lot of modern gadgets; we just use what works. I usually stand by the entrance for a bit in the morning to see the city waking up. It gets very loud by ten o'clock. We have a lot of regular guests who have been coming here for years because they like being near Parrys Corner. We don't put on any acts. We just do the work, change the linens, and make sure the guests are sorted. It’s a simple way to make a living in a very busy city. We just keep our doors open and try to handle whatever comes our way throughout the day. It is just another day at Parrys.
