Chennai Isai Sangam

Down in Avadi Camp, on Ganga Street, you’ll find us at No 5 in Hindu Nagar. We’ve been part of this community for quite a while now. Chennai Isai Sangam isn't a big flashy institution; it’s more like a gathering place for people who actually care about music. The building is simple, and the rooms have that old-school feel to them. We spend a lot of our time here just organizing things and making sure the instruments are kept in decent shape. The street outside is usually quiet compared to the city center, which we actually prefer. You can hear the distant sounds of practice if you walk by in the evenings. We don't really have a marketing team or anyone like that. It’s just a few of us who handle the day-to-day stuff, from answering the door to sweeping the halls. Sometimes we sit out front when the weather is nice and just talk about old songs. It feels more like a home than an office. Sometimes the ceiling fan squeaks a bit when it's on high, but we sort of like the rhythm of it. We aren't trying to build an empire here; we just want a place where music can be played and heard without too much fuss. We get all sorts of people coming through the doors, and there’s no pressure. It’s just a small spot in Avadi where music happens and we take things as they come.
