Ajantha School Of Arts

We are located at number 6 in Muthu Nagar, which is over in the Poonamallee area. It’s a bit of a walk from the main bus stop, but it’s a quiet enough street for what we do. The school is basically a place where people come to learn how to draw and paint without too much fuss. You walk in and you’ll probably smell turpentine or wet clay right away. There are drawings pinned up all over the place, and some of them have been there for years. We don’t have fancy art studios; it’s mostly just tables and chairs and whatever light comes through the windows. It gets a little messy sometimes because, well, that’s what happens when kids and adults start playing with colors. We’ve got stacks of paper in the corner and brushes soaking in jars. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but everyone knows where their stuff is. During the weekends, it gets quite loud with all the students talking and working on their projects. The neighborhood is mostly houses, so we try not to be too noisy late in the evening. Most of the people who come here are locals from around Poonamallee who just want a place to be creative. It’s a small operation, and we like keeping it that way because it feels more like a home than a school sometimes. It’s just how things are here.
