Working out of the MEPZ Special Economic Zone in Tambaram is a bit different than being on a normal city street. We’re at Sdf Iv & C2 on the 3rd Main Road. You have to go through the main gates and follow the signs to find us. The zone is huge, and it’s full of warehouses and factories. Our space is functional, designed for moving a lot of product through every day. The 3rd Main Road stays busy with delivery vans and people walking to the different units. Inside, it’s all about the workflow. We have rows of workstations and a lot of bright lights so everyone can see what they’re doing with the fabric. The air is always a bit thick with the smell of new clothes and industrial machines. We don't spend money on fancy lobby furniture or decorations. We just have what we need to get the orders processed. Sometimes the power dips and we have to wait for the generators to kick in, which is just part of life in the zone. We take our lunches in the common areas or just at our desks. It’s a long day, especially with the commute into Tambaram, but we’ve got a good rhythm going. We’ve been in this SDF unit for a while now, and we know all the security guards and the other folks working nearby. It’s a solid, hardworking environment.
