Our workplace is located at Ta14 in the Alacrity Flats, which is part of the Tarangini Complex inside the Ambattur Industrial Estate. This is a very industrial part of town, so you won't find many trees or quiet spots around here. There is always the sound of machinery or heavy vehicles moving in the background. We work out of what used to be a flat, which makes the layout a bit interesting for a business. We have different rooms for different parts of the work, but it can feel a little cramped when a new shipment arrives and takes up all the floor space. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the ceiling fan in the main room makes a clicking sound that we’ve all learned to ignore. We handle various fashion items, so there are always thread clippings and bits of fabric on the floor by the time five o'clock rolls around. The air in Ambattur can be quite heavy and hot, especially in the afternoons, but we just open the windows and keep going. We aren't a big corporation with fancy titles; we are just a small group of people trying to keep things organized and get the jobs done. It is a practical environment where the focus is more on the actual items we are making than on how the office looks to outsiders.
