Beroza Handcrafted Leather

Beroza Handcrafted Leather is based at 5, Khaleeli Centre, which is at 149, Montieth Road in Egmore. Egmore is always buzzing with people and cars, and Khaleeli Centre has been there for years. Our little spot is number 5. It’s not a huge place, so it gets a bit crowded when we have a lot of leather skins arriving. We do things by hand, which means there are always needles, thread, and knives laying around on the worktables. It’s a bit disorganized at times, but we know exactly where every tool is kept. The lighting isn't the best in the back, so we do most of the detailed work near the front where the sun comes in. We don’t have a fancy mission statement or a corporate philosophy. We just come in, sit down, and start working on the leather skins. Sometimes we talk about the cricket scores or the weather while we stitch away. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere, even when we have a lot of work to finish by the end of the week. Montieth Road is a good location, and we get a lot of interesting people stopping by just to see what we’re making inside. We don't use big machines that make a lot of noise; it's mostly just the sound of hand tools and us talking. Beroza Handcrafted Leather is just a small workshop where we take our time and do things the old way.
