Balle Balle Farms

Our farm is located at 88/7 in Pallikaranai, Kanchipuram. It’s a bit of a drive out, but it’s where we do all our work. We named it Balle Balle Farms because we wanted something that sounded cheerful for a change. We spend most of our time out in the fields or tending to what we’ve got growing. It’s hard work and the sun can be really hot out here in Kanchipuram. We have a few buildings for storage and keeping the tools out of the rain. My family helps out with everything, from planting to harvesting. We don't use any of those big corporate systems; we just do things the way we’ve learned over the years. Some seasons are better than others, depending on the rain and the pests. We sell what we produce to the local markets and sometimes people come directly to the farm to buy things fresh. There’s always something that needs fixing, like a fence or a leaky pipe, so we’re never really sitting still. It’s a quiet life compared to the city, but it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. We like being out here in Pallikaranai. If you’re ever driving through this part of Kanchipuram, you’ll see our gate. It’s just a real farm where we work the land and try to make a living from it without any unnecessary complications.
