Baba Exports

Our office is over at No-115 on 8th Street, right in Cochin House near the Police Quarters on Greams Road. Thousand Lights is a busy neighborhood, so there is always something going on outside our windows. We handle exports, which means our day is mostly spent on the phone or typing out emails to people in different time zones. There are stacks of shipping documents and customs forms all over the desks. It’s a lot of coordination, making sure that what leaves here actually gets to where it’s supposed to go. We deal with a variety of goods, depending on what the current demand is. Sometimes the internet goes down or a shipment gets stuck at the port, and those are the days we really feel the stress. Greams Road is usually packed with cars, so getting out for lunch can be a chore. The building we are in has a lot of history and you can feel it in the walls. It’s not a shiny new glass tower, but it works for us. We have a small team here, and we all end up doing a bit of everything, from packing samples to talking to truck drivers. It’s the kind of job where you never quite know what the next problem will be. We just try to keep things moving and make sure the boxes are labeled correctly before they head out to the docks. It’s a steady way to make a living.
