You can find us at No 16, Race Course Road, right near the Guindy railway station. It’s a loud spot because you can hear the trains pulling in and out all day, and the announcements over the speakers are constant. Av Thomas Leathers & Llied Products has been operating from this building for quite a while. We handle leather and some other related things, mostly focusing on getting the materials sorted and sent out. The location is handy because of the station, so our workers don't have a hard time getting here. The rooms inside are filled with the heavy scent of treated leather, which you get used to after about ten minutes. We have benches where the cutting happens and racks where things are stored. It isn't a silent workplace; there’s always some hammering or the sound of someone dragging a hide across the floor. We drink a lot of tea to stay sharp. The windows look out toward the road, and sometimes we just watch the traffic jam up during the evening rush. We don’t bother with fancy brochures or marketing people. We just focus on the leather piles in front of us. If someone needs a specific grade or a certain type of product, we go into the back and find it. It’s a bit cluttered, and we probably should organize the scrap pile more often, but we know where everything is.
