J D Exports & Imports is over at No. 17 Durai Pillai Street in Sri Sakthi Nagar, Arumbakkam. It’s a residential-feeling area, so it’s usually a bit quieter than being right on the main commercial roads. Our office is on the ground floor, which makes it easy to move things in and out without dealing with stairs. The street is a bit narrow, so if two cars meet, one usually has to back up. Inside, we have a pretty simple setup with a few desks and a big map on the wall. We spend our days tracking shipments and talking to people at the port. There’s always some new rule or a different form to fill out, so it keeps us on our toes. We aren't a big operation with a lot of departments; we all pretty much know how to do everything. Sometimes we stay a bit late if there’s a deadline, but usually, we try to keep regular hours. We have a small porch where we sometimes sit for five minutes to get some fresh air. It’s a very normal, local business. We don't have a big marketing budget or a polished website; we just rely on doing our work and being honest with the people we deal with. Arumbakkam is a good place for us, and we’ve gotten used to the quiet pace of Durai Pillai Street.
