Amethyst International School

Amethyst International School is at 298/2D on Karanai Main Road in Semmancheri. It’s a bit of a drive out from the center, so there is a little more space around us than you’d find in the middle of the city. The school is a fairly large building with plenty of windows to let the light in. We have kids from different backgrounds coming here every day. Even though it's an international school, we don't have any of those fancy polished attitudes. It’s just a place where teachers and students gather to get through the curriculum. We have a playground that is usually full of energy during the breaks, though it gets a bit muddy when the monsoon hits. The classrooms are basic but they have what we need to get the lessons done. Our staff room is always a mess of papers and lunch boxes. We don't have a big team of people writing promotional materials for us. We just rely on the fact that we’ve been here for a while and people know us. The road outside can be a bit bumpy, and the dust settles on everything if we don't wipe it down daily. We spend our time teaching, marking notebooks, and talking to parents about their kids' progress. It’s an honest, everyday kind of school. We aren't trying to be anything more than a place for local kids to learn.
