Sterling Apparels Chennai

Our business, Sterling Apparels Chennai, is based at No. 25a Vivekananda Street. This is in the Balaji Nagar part of Ambattur. It’s a decent area, mostly residential streets mixed with small workshops like ours. The building is just a regular house that we’ve converted for our apparel work. It’s not like those giant factories you see in the industrial estates. It feels a bit more personal here. We have a small group of people who come in every day to work on the garments. You can hear the hum of the sewing machines from the street if the windows are open. We chose Vivekananda Street because it’s a bit quieter than the main roads in Ambattur, which helps us focus. We don't have a big sign outside, just the door number. Inside, every bit of space is used for fabric rolls or finished pieces waiting to be sent out. It’s a bit cramped sometimes, but we make it work. We have a small tea break in the morning and afternoon, usually just standing out on the street for some air. It’s a very simple way of doing things. We don't go in for any corporate style; we are just local people making clothes in a local neighborhood. It is a steady job and we are happy with our little spot. We just keep working through the bundles of cloth until the day is over and we can go home. It's a nice enough way to spend our time.
