If you find yourself on 3rd Road Street in Parthasarthy Nagar, you’ll see us at Ne- 6- A. It’s a busy little corner of Adambakkam. The street is usually lined with parked scooters and people walking to the local market. Our building is nothing special to look at, just a regular concrete structure with a heavy door. Inside, Trichy Clothing Company is usually humming with activity. We have stacks of shirts and trousers piled up on long wooden tables. The windows are usually kept open to let in whatever breeze we can get, though it mostly just brings in the sound of the traffic and the occasional stray dog barking. We have a small crew here, and everyone knows their job. Some days are spent entirely on quality checks, looking for loose threads or crooked buttons. It gets pretty hot in the middle of the day, so we usually take a long break when the sun is at its highest. There’s a calendar on the wall with various dates circled in red ink for deadlines. We use old-school ledgers sometimes because it’s just easier than fighting with the computer when the power flickers. It’s a simple setup, but it’s been working for us for a long time. We just focus on getting the piles of cloth turned into something people can actually wear and getting it out the door.
