This shop on Oorkavalappa Swamy Kovil Street has been around for a bit. We mostly deal with small electronic parts and repairs here in Thiruchuli. It is a small place, and sometimes the dust from the street gets inside, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the glass counters. People bring in all sorts of gadgets that have stopped working. Sometimes it’s just a loose wire, other times it is a total mess inside. My tools are laid out on a workbench in the back that is probably older than some of our customers. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, especially when we have the soldering irons going for too long. We keep a stock of basic components like capacitors and resistors in little plastic bins. Most of the time, I am just hunched over a circuit board with a magnifying glass. Local folks stop by to chat even when they don't need anything fixed. It’s a quiet life, really. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the name Accsys Electronics over the door. If the power goes out, we just sit outside on the step until it comes back. You learn to be patient when you work with tiny pieces of metal and solder. It's not a glamorous job, but it keeps the lights on and serves the neighborhood.
