Abu Khan Fer Abaya Export & Import is located on the second floor of a building that has two different numbers. It’s New No. 214 but some people still know it as Old No. 153. It can be a bit confusing for the delivery drivers the first time they come by. You have to climb a flight of stairs to get to us. The space is mostly used for storing the abayas we import and export. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the fabric and making sure the embroidery is done correctly. It’s a quiet place for the most part, being away from the street level. We have a lot of shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. We use a small ladder to reach the boxes at the top. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when we get a large shipment in. We don't have a big showroom or anything like that. It’s just our workspace where we handle all the logistics and packing. The windows are small, so we rely on overhead lights. We’ve been at this location for a good while now. The building is old but it serves our needs. We usually have tea together in the afternoon while we go over the orders for the next day. It’s a straightforward operation and we just take things one day at a time without much fuss. The hallway can be dark, but the office is bright.
