A. K. A. Leathers

If you are looking for us, we are located on the first floor of building 39 on Wuthucattan Street. This part of Periamet is always full of activity, mostly people carrying bundles of leather back and forth. A. K. A. Leathers has been in this spot for a good number of years. You have to climb a narrow set of stairs to get up to us, and sometimes the lighting in the hallway isn’t the greatest. Once you get inside, it’s mostly just stacks of materials and the sound of people working. It smells like leather everywhere here, which I guess you get used to after a few days. My uncle started this place, and now a few of us keep it going. We don’t have a big fancy showroom with bright lights. It is more of a practical workspace where we spend our hours checking quality and talking to suppliers. Sometimes the street downstairs gets so loud with the horns and the shouting that we have to close the windows, even when it’s hot. We mostly just focus on getting the orders right. It’s a lot of manual work and checking details by hand. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during the slow afternoons. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. Most of our neighbors are doing the same thing, so it feels like a community.
