About Sumit Kaur Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
My office is basically my home here at House No.276 in Sector-10-A. It’s a quiet enough street, which helps when I need to focus on a new drawing or look over site plans. I’ve lived in this area for a while, so I know the neighborhood pretty well. Most people around here just drop by if they see my light on. I don’t have a big staff or a receptionist out front. It’s just me and my desk, which is usually covered in pens, scales, and half-empty coffee mugs. The sector is nice because you get to know the other families and small business owners nearby. When I started as an architect, I didn’t want a big corporate office with glass walls. I preferred being where the actual houses are. It makes the work feel more real when you’re designing for people in the same kind of community. Sometimes the neighbors’ kids are playing outside and it gets a bit noisy, but that’s just part of life here. I spend a lot of my time going back and forth between the drafting table and the sites I’m working on. Every project has its own set of headaches, but that’s how it goes in this profession. I keep things simple. If you’re looking for the house, it’s the one with the small sign by the gate, right in the middle of the block. I’ve been here long enough that most of the postmen know exactly where to bring the mail without checking the number too closely. It’s a very practical setup for me.
