Standard Frozen Foods

At Standard Frozen Foods, we spend a lot of our time wearing heavy sweaters, even when it’s boiling hot outside in Sector 38. Being on Jame Jamshed Rd at number 75 means we get a lot of trucks coming through. The main thing you notice here is the hum. The freezers are always running and they make this deep vibrating sound that you feel in your feet. We have to check the thermometers every few hours to make sure everything stays at the right temperature. It’s a lot of physical work, moving heavy crates and making sure the inventory is rotated properly. Sometimes the frost builds up on the doors and we have to scrape it off so they close right. The office is just a small partitioned area in the corner where we keep the invoices. It’s usually cold in there too. We don't have much time for sitting around. When the deliveries arrive, everyone has to help out. Jame Jamshed Rd can get really jammed up in the evenings, so we try to get the loading done early in the morning. The floor is often wet from the condensation, so we have to be careful where we step. It’s a straightforward business, no frills, just keeping things cold and moving them out to the people who need them. We’ve been in Sector 38 for a long time now.
