My work is based out of House No.234 in Village Bandhari. It is a quiet place, which is good for the kind of thinking you need to do when you are designing a house from scratch. I am set up at Pandi Puran Chand's place. It is not a commercial hub or anything like that. It is just a house in the village where I do my drawings and meet people who need some help with their building projects. In a place like Bandhari, everyone knows each other, so I can't afford to do a bad job. Word gets around fast here. I spend a lot of time looking at maps and structural details. It is not just about making a house look nice; it is about making sure it stays up for fifty years. I handle the paperwork and the technical drawings that the local authorities ask for. It can be a slow process sometimes, dealing with all the different regulations. I don't have a big staff. It is mostly just me and the tools of the trade. People stop by to talk about their plots or ask for advice on materials like bricks or cement. I try to give them a straight answer without all the professional jargon. Most of my day is spent at the drafting table or out at a site checking on the foundation work. It is honest work. You see a project go from a muddy patch of ground to a finished home.
