Chandauli Kala Chawal Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our company is run from Shashi Kant Rai’s place in the village of Amarabarahani. We are focused on the black rice that grows around here in Chandauli. It’s a local specialty, and a group of us farmers got together to make this company. We don't have a big fancy office in the city. We meet at the house or out in the fields near the post office. Dealing with kala chawal takes a bit of extra care compared to regular rice. We spend our time talking about seeds, the rain, and who is ready to harvest. It’s a community effort, really. Everyone knows Shashi Kant, so his place is where the paperwork happens. We are just local farmers trying to get a fair price for what we grow. The village life is quiet, but there is always work to do with the crops. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks. We just show the rice for what it is. The soil in Amarabarahani is good for this kind of thing. We take turns helping each other out. Sometimes the machinery breaks or the rain doesn't come when we want, but we manage. Being a producer company helps us stay organized as a group. It’s a simple way of living and working. We are proud of the black rice we produce right here in our own village.
