Our place is on the second floor of number 47 in the Double Storey area of New Rajinder Nagar. It is a busy part of New Delhi, and finding a spot for the heavier marble slabs can be a bit of a headache with the narrow streets and the traffic. We deal with tiles and all sorts of stone every day, so there is usually a layer of fine dust on everything. It’s not a polished showroom like you might see in a mall; it is more of a place where we sit down with the ledgers and figure out the deliveries. New Rajinder Nagar has a lot of energy, and being in a double-storey building means we are always climbing stairs or hauling samples up and down. The 110060 area code is home for us. We spend a lot of time talking to contractors and people just trying to fix up their own kitchens or floors. It is heavy work, literally, because stone doesn't move easily. We have to be careful with the marble so it doesn't crack before it gets where it is going. Most days are just a mix of answering the phone and checking the stock in the back. It’s been our base for a while now, right in the middle of the Delhi bustle. We just keep things moving, one crate of tiles at a time, and try to stay on top of the orders.
