About Shivam Overseas – Art & Craft in Central Delhi
If you’ve ever been down Ansari Road in Darya Ganj, you know how crowded it gets. Shivam Overseas is right there at 2/7, and some days it’s a real struggle just to get a rickshaw through the street. We’ve been in this spot for a while, and the building has that old Delhi feel to it. The walls are a bit thin, so you can hear the traffic and the vendors shouting outside all day long. Inside, it’s mostly just piles of boxes and desks covered in invoices. We deal with a lot of different items, and there is always something needing to be packed or unpacked. The tea stall around the corner is where most of us go when we need a break. It's not a quiet place to work, but there’s a lot of energy in this part of town. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, so we just wait it out and talk. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. People who need to find us usually know the way. Managing everything from this little office takes a lot of patience. My desk is right near the window, so I watch the crowds while I talk to suppliers on the phone. It’s a simple setup, and we don't try to make it look like something it’s not. We just keep up with the orders as they come in and hope the delivery truck doesn't get stuck in traffic.
