Shark India Handicrafts

Shark India Handicrafts is tucked away at 1120, Kucha Faulad Khan in the Darya Ganj area. If you know this part of the city, you know how crowded and narrow the lanes can get around Kalan Mahal. We have been working out of this space for a while. It’s a bit of a maze to get here, but it’s home for us. We spend most of our hours surrounded by materials and finished pieces. There is always dust on the shelves and the smell of raw materials in the air. We aren't a big factory or anything like that. It is mostly a few of us who know how to handle the tools and get the work done. Some days are quieter than others, especially when the heat in Darya Ganj gets intense. We usually have tea together in the afternoon while we plan out the next batch of work. Our space is filled with things we have made, stacked up in corners and on tables. We don’t have a fancy showroom or a receptionist. If someone comes to the door, one of us just wipes our hands and goes to see what they need. It is a practical way of living. We have learned the trade from those who were here before us. The neighborhood knows us as the people who are always busy with their hands. We just keep our heads down and work. It isn't always perfect, but we get the orders out eventually.
