Ram Gopal & Sons

Ram Gopal & Sons is tucked away in Govind Lane, right off Ansari Road in Daryaganj. If you know the area, you know how tight these lanes are and how much history is packed into the old walls. Our address is 4836, and it’s been the family spot for quite a long time now. The building is one of those old Daryaganj structures where the rooms are small and the ceilings are high. We have stacks of things everywhere, mostly because we hate throwing anything away that might be useful later. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the papers and boxes. We don’t really have a big staff, just the family and a few helpers who have been with us since they were kids. Dealing with the crowd on Ansari Road is just part of the daily routine for us. You get used to the shouting and the horns after a few years. We do our business across the old wooden counter that’s been there forever. It’s got scratches and ink stains all over it, but it’s sturdy. We aren't much for computers, though we have one sitting in the corner mostly for the bills. People come to us because they know we’ve been here and we aren't going anywhere. It’s just a plain, honest shop in a very busy part of Delhi, doing what we’ve always done.
