National Furniture House

Punch Kuin Road is famous for furniture in Delhi, and we are right in the middle of it at Shop 111-112. Everyone knows this stretch of the city. It is loud and the traffic is always moving, or at least trying to move. Our shop is packed with chairs, tables, and wooden cabinets. Sometimes it is hard to even walk around inside because we try to keep so much on the floor for people to see. We do not spend money on fancy decorations for the store itself. We just have the furniture lined up and the lights are usually a bit yellow. Most of our day is spent talking to people who are moving into new apartments or fixing up their old family places. They ask a lot of questions about the type of wood and the kind of polish we use. We tell them what we know. There is a small tea stall nearby that brings us hot chai three times a day in small glasses. We sit on the plastic stools outside when the shop is not busy with customers. The metro rattles overhead sometimes, but you get used to that sound after a week of working here. Sometimes the delivery guys are late because of the heavy jams at Connaught Place, but we try to keep things moving. We do not have a website or anything like that. People just walk in, look at the stuff, and we talk.
