Mukhamal Ramnarain

Our shop is located at K-1 in Connaught Circus, which is right in the heart of the city. Being in such an old, circular building means the walls are thick and the rooms have a funny shape. Mukhamal Ramnarain has been here for a long time, and we’ve seen the area change quite a bit. It used to be much quieter, but now there are always tourists and office workers rushing past the windows. Inside, we keep things pretty much the way they’ve always been. We have these heavy shelves and old-fashioned drawers that hold all our stock. It’s a bit dim in the back of the shop, but we like it that way; it stays cooler in the summer. We don't use any of those loud marketing tactics or big flashy signs. We just open the door in the morning and wait for people to come in. Some people stop by just to look at the architecture of the building, and we don't mind that at all. We spend our days measuring things out and chatting with whoever has the time to talk. It’s a bit of a slow pace compared to the rest of Connaught Place, but we aren't in any rush. Sometimes we sit on the steps during our break and just watch the cars go around the circle. It’s a steady job in a nice part of town, and we’re happy to keep it going as long as we can.
