Octavius Emporium is tucked away at 9 Hanuman Road, right in the heart of Connaught Place. Being in this part of town means there is always something going on outside. The building has a bit of history to it, and we like the feel of the area. We focus on tea and some other bits and pieces here. It’s a place where we keep things simple. We have a lot of different varieties in stock, and the smell when you walk in is quite strong, usually like bergamot or fresh green leaves. The floor is a bit worn from all the foot traffic over the years, but we don't mind. We aren't really into that modern, minimalist look you see in the malls. It’s more of a traditional shop where you can see the tins stacked up on the wooden shelves. Some of us have worked here for years, so we know where every single box is kept. Customers come in looking for their usual blends, and we have a chat while we get it ready for them. It’s a slow-paced kind of business compared to the busy streets outside. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the back door if the storm is bad enough, but we just put a bucket down and keep going. It’s just a normal shop doing its thing in an old neighborhood. We like it this way. It's home for us now, and we don't plan on moving anywhere else soon.
