Modern Handicraft

Operating out of Karol Bagh means there is never a quiet moment around Modern Handicraft. This neighborhood is always packed with people and carts, and our space is no different. We have shelves packed with all sorts of things that people have made by hand, and honestly, it gets a bit dusty because there is so much stuff to move around. We spend a lot of time unpacking boxes that come in from different parts of the country and trying to find a spot for everything on the shelves. It’s a bit of a maze inside, but we know where most things are hidden. Sometimes a customer comes in looking for something specific and we have to dig through a few crates to find it. The air in Karol Bagh is always full of the smell of street food and the sound of horns, which drifts right into the shop. We don’t have a big marketing team or a fancy storefront; we just open the shutters in the morning and start working. The floor is a bit uneven and the lighting isn't the best, but it is where we have been for a long time. People come here when they want something that isn't just made in a big factory. We just handle the items, wrap them up in newspaper or brown paper, and send people on their way. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day among all the beautiful things.
