Hastkala

Hastkala is found at 11-A on Court Road. Being in Civil Lines, it’s a bit of a different vibe compared to other parts of the city. We’ve been here for a good while. Our shop is mostly filled with things that people have made by hand. We don't really go for the factory-made stuff. It’s more about the individual pieces. The shop floor is usually a bit cluttered. We try to keep it neat, but when new items arrive, they just end up in piles until we find a spot for them. We spend a lot of time talking to the people who make the goods. It’s a lot of back and forth. The building we are in is quite old, so it has some character, though the roof leaked once last summer. We fixed it, mostly. People come in from the street while they are walking near the courts. It’s a steady stream of people, but nothing too crazy. We don't have a big staff. It's just a couple of us doing the daily chores and helping customers. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in town. We just like what we do. It’s a simple business model. We sell handmade things and we try to keep the lights on. That’s about it for us.
