Gaurav Handicrafts

We spend most of our days here on Factory Road, right in the middle of all the noise and trucks going by in Nabi Karim. Gaurav Handicrafts is just this one shop, number 6444, and it’s usually quite crowded with stuff we’ve finished and things we’re still working on. I’ve been coming here every morning for a long time now, unlocking the shutters and getting the dust off the shelves. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular workshop where we handle everything ourselves. Some days are really busy when the orders come in thick, and other times we just sit and wait for someone to drop by. The area is always loud, but you get used to the sounds of the street after a while. Most people find us because they know the neighborhood well. We don’t have any big signs or anything like that. It’s just us working with what we have. Sometimes the light inside isn’t the best, so we do a lot of the fiddly work near the front where the sun hits. My cousin helps out sometimes when things get piled up. We keep a diary of what needs doing, but usually, we just remember. It’s a simple life here in the shop. We don’t try to be something we aren't. We just do the work and hope people like what they buy. That’s about it for us at Shop 6444.
