Finding us isn’t too hard if you know where Jessaram Hospital is on Gurupwara Road. We are right across from it on the second floor of building 17A/41. Kalol Bagh is a crowded place and the stairs up to our office are a bit narrow so you have to be careful if you’re carrying anything. Excel Housewares Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of this space for a while and you can tell by the way the floor tiles are worn down in certain spots. It’s a very practical environment. We have shelves full of different houseware items like pots and containers and sometimes it feels like we are running out of room to walk. The staff here mostly grew up around this neighborhood so there’s a lot of chatting in the local dialect. We don’t have a receptionist or a waiting lounge. If you walk in you’ll probably just see someone counting inventory or typing out an invoice at a cluttered desk. The noise from the traffic outside is constant but we don’t really hear it anymore. Sometimes the delivery guys get lost in the back lanes so someone usually has to go down to the street to wave them in. It’s a lot of manual work and checking boxes over and over. We just try to keep things moving and make sure the daily shipments go out before the market closes up for the night.
