D & A Enterprises

Being located at 7A/40 W.E.A. Channa Market in Karol Bagh means it is never quiet. There is always someone shouting outside or a rickshaw bell ringing. D & A Enterprises is basically just two rooms filled with stock and a couple of very old desks. We’ve been in this market for a while and we know most of the people on this street by their first names. My cousin helps out with the accounts when he isn't busy with his own stuff. We spend a lot of time checking the inventory because things tend to get misplaced in the back room quite easily. It’s dusty work, especially when the wind picks up. We don't really have a set schedule, we just open up when the market starts moving and stay until the shutters go down on the other shops. Most of the day is spent handling phone calls and writing down orders on those yellow legal pads. We use a lot of tape and brown paper for packing. The electricity cuts out sometimes in the afternoon, so we keep a few torches handy just in case we’re in the middle of something. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is if you give us a minute to look. We just try to get the work done without too much fuss before heading home.
