Carrier Bags House

We’ve been running Carrier Bags House for quite a while now from our spot at 5898 in Shankar Market. It’s located in Nabi Karim, right on Jhandawalan Road. If you know the market, you know it’s a place where work actually happens. There are bags everywhere you look in our shop—all kinds of shapes and sizes stacked up in piles. It’s not the neatest place in the world, but we know exactly where everything is. The smell of the materials is something you just get used to after working here for a few years. We spend a lot of time talking to customers who need something specific, and we just try to help them out as best we can. It’s a lot of physical work, moving bundles around and making sure everything is loaded correctly. We aren't some big corporation with a fancy website; we’re just a local business trying to keep things moving. Some days the heat in the market is pretty bad, and we all just sit around with the fan on high, hoping for a breeze. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We sell bags, and we try to be fair about it. It’s a simple life, but it keeps us busy and we’ve made a lot of friends in the market over the years. That counts for something in our book.
