Dattaraj Agro Producer Company Limited is run from our spot on Dongaon Road in Mehkar. If you know the area, we are located right near Shubham Hardware, care of Dattatray Ukandrao Shelke. It’s a handy location because people are always coming by the hardware shop anyway. We started this because the farmers around Buldhana needed a better way to get their stuff to market. We don't have a corporate building, just this space where we sit and talk shop. There are stacks of papers and maybe some samples of grain lying around. It gets busy during the sowing season when everyone is looking for advice or supplies. We try to help out where we can, sharing what we know about the land and the crops. It’s a lot of back and forth with the local markets. Some days we are just sitting there waiting for the truck to arrive or for the rain to stop. We aren't doing this to get rich quick, it's just about making sure we get a fair shake. People around Mehkar know us, and we know them. It’s all very local and direct. We keep things simple because that's what works for us and the people we work with. No need for fancy words when you’re talking about dirt and seeds. We have been doing this for a while now and we just take each day as it comes, making sure the records are straight.
